Inspired by the infamous cinematic moment from Basic Instinct starring Sharon Stone, this artwork reclaims one of popular culture's most talked-about scenes through a modern female gaze.

When the film was released in 1992, the interrogation scene became an international sensation, and the controversy surrounding it followed Stone for years. She later revealed she hadn't anticipated how the final edit would appear on screen, and the fallout reached into both her personal and professional life.

Rather than celebrating scandal, Sit Like a Lady explores confidence, control and the power of owning your narrative. What was once viewed as provocative is reimagined as a symbol of female strength, self-possession and defiance of expectations. Bold, playful and unapologetic, the work invites viewers to question who defines what it means to "sit like a lady."
